Canada finished unbeaten in Pool A

WINNIPEG, Canada, June 4, 2008.- Canada did not disappointed their fans as they finished first of their pool. They achieved their second win against the Dominican Republic, outscoring their opponent 3-0. Set scores were 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

 

Host team Canada had more trouble against Dominican Republic team than any other opponent so far. But Nicholas Cundy cemented their path to the victory with a big kill to end the match.

 

Cundy acted as the leader of the Canadian squad tonight. He cumulated 14 points, featuring 11 attacks, 2 blocks and 1 ace. The captain of the Dominican team, Elvis Contreras got 13 points and Jose Caceras Gomez got 11 points.

 

While the Dominican Republic coach, Jacinto Campechano congratulated Team Canada, Canadian Coach Glenn Hoag declared: “Dominican Republic was the best team we met so far. We did not play our best volleyball but it was still a good victory”.

 

The captain Jeremy Wilcox added: “We lost a bit of focus in some sequences and at the end of the match but we got back on track fast enough.”
